As if Marvel’s Black Panther wasn’t enough. Along comes “A Wrinkle in Time”, starring Oprah Winfrey (Mrs. Which), Mindy Kaling (Mrs. Who), Reese Whitherspoon (Mrs. Whatsit) and Storm Reid (Meg Murray). “After the disappearance of her scientist father, three peculiar beings send Meg, her brother, and her friend to space in order to find him”. The big screen adaption from the timeless classic published in 1962 by the late author, Madeeine L’Englee Camp and has set the entertainment industry a buzz for quite sometime.
Confession, I have never read the book, but I enjoy science fantasy films. The bonus part, is that it was directed by Ava DuVernay. I can only imagine how this will impact young black girls that will get to see themselves being portrayed on the big screen in such a magical and beautiful way. Representation does indeed matter. Disney could not have picked a better person to handle the project.
The other bonus is that I get to someone that admire a great deal on the big screen once again and that’s Auntie Oprah. I can’t wait to witness the energy she brings to the role of Mrs. Which. I know one thing, the hair, make-up and costuming is absolutely gorgeous.
On Monday night the star studded cast attended the World Premier for “A Wrinkle in Time”. The movie is expected to be another blockbuster hit for Disney Studios. So, will you watch?
