Oscars 2017: Moonlight Wins the Night’s Most Coveted Prize

Congratulations are in order to Barry Jenkins, Director of Moonlight. The Moonlight  Production won big during tonight’s  2017 Oscars. Moonlight won the night’s most coveted honor  of Best Picture. Kudos to  Mahershala Ali win for  Best Supporting Actor.  Janelle Monae must be given props to, she was  cast in two awesome movies that were top contenders during tonight’s Oscars, Moonlight and Hidden Figures. New comer Trevontae Rhodes- that played the adult Chiron in Moonlight,  has a very bright future ahead of him.  He did an excellent job.

Surprisingly though,  Hidden Figures didn’t take home any Oscars. I said surprisingly, but did you think  that a movie depicting educated black  would be bestowed  with one of the industries highest honors?  I’m just saying. It would have been the icing on the cake for Hidden Figures. However, I remain encouraged because Hidden Figures has inspired millions of people and will continue to do so long after the Oscars.  Congratulations to Viola Davis on her win for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in the movie Fences.

Nevertheless, the Oscar’s still aren’t off the hook just yet. While yes, this year was better. There is still much room for improvement.  Overall during last nights Oscars,  black excellence was on full display.    Announcing the wrong winner for the Best Picture category will go down in history as one the Oscar nights biggest flubs.
