Kicking the Valentine’s Day Blues was the ultimate game changer and set the tone for how I approached love demonstrations. Typically on this day we are bombarded with images of couples deeply in love. People receiving huge bouquets of flowers at their job and expensive gifts. If you don’t have some one doing this for you then it is easy to start feeling left out. Trust me been there done that.
However, my perspective changed regarding how I viewed Valentine’s Day and the celebration of it. Thanks to my older sister. She is a Valentine’s Day fanatic. She loves it just as much as she loves Christmas. Seriously, she readies her Christmas music list by October. Yup! For her, the day means sharing little trinkets or handwritten notes with those she loves. It finally clicked for me. Valentine’s Day is not just a day for couples, It’s a celebration of love for anyone. I choose to celebrate the love that surrounds me. I’m not allowing someone else to control how I approach a day that’s meant to celebrate love! Love is beautiful. I have children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, and a mom – that’s a lot of love! If you are a party of one, then love yourself. Be kind to yourself. Treat yourself. Here’s to celebrating a month of love.
