Bruno Mars Finesse (Remix) Featuring Cardi B

The internet is lit all the way up after, Bruno Mars dropped the remix to Finesse featuring Cardi B.  Finesse is one of my favorite cuts on 24k Magic. I must say Bruno out did himself with the video though. The tribute to “In living Color” made a sister smile. I mean, who didn’t want to be a “fly girl” back in the day?  Cardi B’s addition to the cut was perfect and executed flawlessly.  One time for the culture, oww!!!   https://youtu.be/LsoLEjrDogU?list=PL2gNzJCL3m__vT5kzXFQbc5qh4_3g4N1D 2 Shares Tweet Share2

Rapper, Eve’s Critique of Nicki Minaj’s Magazine Cover Ruffles some Feathers

All isn’t well in the land of hip hop sort of! There’s no beef with anyone. Only some strong commentary regarding Nicki Minaj’s recent “Paper” Magazine Cover photo. Eve brings up some valid points, “I worked with Nicki, I got to know her on ‘Barbershop’… she’s a nice person, she’s an amazing rapper, and as a lyricist I respect her… but as a woman, from my point of view, personally, I would not be able to do that,” Eve, 39, said. “I think in this climate, it’s not good. I…

Chris Brown’s “Welcome to My Life”: When the Will to Survive is Stronger Than the Destruction

Photo: Chris Brown Over this past weekend I had a chance to view Chris Brown’s “Welcome to My Life”  documentary.  Let me first stay that I am very proud of him for sharing his story. It seems like it took a lot out of him to do so.  He covered quite a bit, from his early beginnings to the infamous incident concerning Rihanna and  his life afterwards. Some want to reduce the documentary to being solely about his response to the Rhianna incident, but it was about so much more…

Unpacking JAY-Z’S 4:44

Listen, I was up until the wee hours of the morning listening to JAY-Z’S 4:44. Confession: I have not always been the biggest JAY-Z fan, now that that’s out of the way. It still didn’t stop me from being able to appreciate a solid piece of work.   There is a schism  in rap culture. Mumble/youthful rappers challenging the status quo, and in my opinion the art of rap itself. Some argue its simply progression in the art of rap, others not so much. JAY-Z addresses  this on Family Feud….

Jam of Approval: Kendrick Lamar’s Damn

Kung  Fu Kenny got the industry on lock.  When all of your titles on your most recent album chart at the same time,  that’s some very very legendary stuff.  Listen, I enjoyed every track on Damn. I’m old school, I have to understand every lyric and feel the song;  with Kendrick Lamar that wasn’t even an issue.  Kendrick had me feeling like I needed to repent and I hadn’t  even done anything.  He raps with such  passion and with an even greater awareness of  his platform and influence.  He is…

The 59th Annual Grammy Awards -Where Do I Start

Man, I’m sitting here trying to get myself together to type this post. Where do I start!!!! The 59th Annual Grammy Awards Show was amaze balls.  Of course my favorite part of the show was Queen Bey. I passed out, got up, then passed out again. Motherhood looks soooo freaking good on her. Beyonce` always  brings 110% to any performance and tonight she did not disappoint.  So,  I know I’m not the only one that  held their breath as she leaned back in that chair. I was like, whose bright…

Will you be glued to your television tonight watching the 59th Annual Grammy Award show?  I will be front an center with my list to check off the winners.
