Will You Watch? “Breaking In” Starring Gabrielle Union

Well, well, well, looks like another action thriller with a black female lead and I’m loving it.  2018 Is starting off just right if you ask me.  Honey, Gabrielle Union goes into full “momma bear” mode in “Breaking In”,  directed by James McTeigue and produced by Will  Packer. The film is set to be released on Mother’s Day. I would go with my momma, but she is the type that will ask you questions through out the entire movie as if you have seen it before. I still love her though….

Oprah Winfrey Puts Many on Notice During her Acceptance Speech for this Years Cecile B. de Mille Award at the 75th Golden Globes

There is something to be said about people that light the room up wherever they go.  During  Sunday nights Golden Globe Award Ceremony, Oprah was that person. Receiving three standing ovations after her very moving acceptance speech for the Cecile B. de Mille Award and she deserved nothing less. The night was monumental because if you follow Oprah, then you know she really steers clear of  any controversy dominating the news cycle.  However, steering clear away from safe, she put several people on notice that night.  Particularly, men that use…

2018 Golden Globe Awards: I’m Rooting for Everybody Black

The 2018 75th  Golden Globe Award Nominees were announced this morning and I’m rooting for everybody black! Issa Rae, darn near broke the internet when she uttered those words during her red carpet interview at the 69th Emmy Awards. Issa said what most of us think when we watch those non BET award shows.  Award shows wouldn’t  be award shows without a bit of controversy. Earlier in the year,  there was some surrounding the fact that Jordan Peel’s “Get Out”, was placed in the “Motion picture, musical or comedy” category….

They couldn’t have selected a more fitting location either. The  Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans was the perfect venue to  execute such a wedding filled with extravagance.  Can we just talk one moment about the cuteness of baby Alexis Olympia? She’s so perfect in every way and seems to have hung…

Insecure Season 2 Episode 5: Imperfect People Chasing Perfect Relationships

Wow! Where do I start? I want to take back my shout-out to Molly (Yvonne Orji). I initially gave her props resisting the desire to sleep with her very married childhood friend Dro (Sarunas J. Jackson). However, in this weeks episode;  vulnerable Molly gave in.  We will have to wait and see what the repercussions are going to be from this decision. In any case, I am confident that Molly will rebound with her heart intact. Okay so let me roll it back a few. Molly’s reaction to finding out…

Insecure Episode 4 Season 2: Kiss ‘N’ Grind and Everything Else

The opening scene with  Issa (Issa Rae), Molly(Yvonne Orji) and Kelly (Natasha Rothwell) was so real and reminiscent of when my home girls and I would hang out.  I mean, who doesn’t turn up before the turn up. The ladies were prepping to attend  the Kiss ‘n’ Grind Party, which turns out to be  a real event that occurs in LA.  Watching Issa no longer question her singleness, but instead be optimistic about being smashed and embracing what ever the night had to offer was delightful. In fact, all of…
